Una nueva manera de correr la maratón

Rob Sloan, mecánico y exmilitar británico, decidió participar el pasado 9 de octubre en la Kielder Marathon, al norte de Londres.
Cuando llevaba 10 kilómetros recorridos sucumbió al cansancio y se le ocurrió una fantástica idea para adelantar posiciones: se salió del pelotón y cogió un autobús de los destinados a transportar a los espectadores a lo largo del trayecto.Se bajó del vehículo cuando faltaba poco para el final, se escondió detrás de un árbol y cuando vio a los primeros corredores pasar se reincorporó a la carrera.
Llegó a la meta en tercera posición sin que nadie en un principio se percatase del engaño. Sin embargo, las sospechas empezaron a surgir cuando los corredores que llegaron detrás de él empezaron a afirmar sin duda alguna que en ningún momento habían visto a Sloan adelantarles así como algunos testigos declararon haber visto a un participante de la maratón empapado en sudor subido al autobus. Un dato tambien bastante sospechoso era que, según la dirección de carrera, Sloan había sido el único en realizar la segunda parte de la maratón más rápido que la primera. Ante esto, el corredor se mostró realmente ofendido ante los medios de comunicación y declaró firmemente no haber hecho trampas a la vez que calificaba las acusaciones de infundadas y cómicas. No obstante, poco después se derrumbó y confesó su trampa siendo así descalificado y obligado a devolver la medalla.
Se ve que este personaje no es todo un atleta de maratones ni tampoco un hombre de grandes ideas, pero sí un gran actor.


A new way of running a marathon

Rob Sloan, mechanic and British exmilitar, decided to participate on the 9th of October in the Kielder Marathon, in the north of London.
When he'd done 10 kilometres succumbed to fatigue and came up with a great idea to go ahead some positions: he left the pack and took a bus for transporting the spectators along the route. He got off the vehicle when the winning post was nearby, he hid behind a tree and when he saw the first runners passing by he rejoined the race.
He crossed the finish line in third position and at first no one realized the deception. However, suspicions began to arise when the runners who arrived behind him began to say without any doubt that they had never seen Sloan passing them as well as some witnesses reported seeing a marathon participant sweat-soaked on the bus . One thing was also pretty suspicious, according to race direction, Sloan was the only one to run the second part of the marathon faster than the first. Given this, the runner was truly offended on the media. He declared firmly not having cheated and he described the accusations as unfounded and comic. However, later he crumbled and confessed having cheated so he was disqualified  and being required to return the medal.
We see that this character is not at all a marathon athlete nor a man of great ideas, but a great actor.
